About Us

Berkshire Teaching Alliance is partnership of more than thirty community primary schools, a secondary academy and specialist SEN school. We work together to help schools improve standards of achievement and learning experiences for children and young people. We believe that working together in this way means that we can combine resources or share existing expertise and practice, for the benefit of children and young people.

Currently membership of our alliance is free, however this is currently under review for 2019-2020. There may be a nominal fee to support increased marketing activity linked to the recruitment and training of teachers

In our teaching alliance children come first and are central to every decision we make. Working together enables us to share, harness and grow expertise so that children in our schools will consistently achieve well and realise their potential.

Theale C of E Primary School is the lead school in our alliance; nationally recognised as an ‘outstanding’ school and granted National Teaching School status by the Government’s National College for Teaching and Leadership.

The central role of the lead school is to help other schools raise standards by developing a self-improving and sustainable school-led system, to ensure:

  • Even better results and learning experiences for pupils in our schools.
  • Sustain the high percentage of schools being evaluated as good and outstanding.
  • Development is grown at a local level to meet local needs.

Our teaching alliance provides a variety of services for schools, such as:

  1. Professional development and learning experiences, from Initial Teacher Education through to development of new and existing headteachers. We provide a programme of events during the year (many free to members) and also design bespoke training according to need. All our training is high quality, relevant and designed to help you make a positive difference on learning outcomes.
  2. School Support. Our alliance has National, Local and Specialist Leaders of Education who work with individual schools to help them extend capacity or create positive challenge for learners by developing ‘cutting-edge’ practice. Our alliance members have a strong commitment to building sustainable leadership and practice across all schools. Members have identified aspects of best practice to share, by mutual arrangement, amongst member schools. Find out more
